Thank You;

Today while I was walking the dogs, a man stopped me and my brother, he wasn't what you would call young. This man had taken interest in my dogs. I took a look at his attire, placed upon his head was a Korean War Veteran Cap. The words he spoke, were not really to me. They were to himself. He said that when he was in the war there were no dogs, just people. I could see the war in his eyes. I could see he appreciated my dogs. He pet my dogs, and then as my brother and I walked away I was speechless. But, I did manage to say thank you.
Thank you for serving this country, thank you for protecting my freedom.
It's amazing how much can be put into two simple words.
I wonder if he understood what i meant.
